THIS IS ME
Ayelet Ori Benita is an Israeli percussionist, vocalist and composer committed to the holistic rhythmical creation while seeking for a true
and deep dialog between the voice,
the percussion, the beats and the melody.
Her compositions are influenced by North-African traditional Jewish music and classical Arabic music, adding a very personal message laced with an impressive technical ability and a special feminine style.
The lyrics are fragments of Hebrew
and Arabic texts which she modulates and sings as rhythmical layers.
Benita just finished recording her debut solo album which will be released soon.
Ayelet was educated by virtuoso percussionists Zohar Fresco and Yshai Afterman and has being performing in Israel and Europe with different ensembles and as a solo artist.
MUSIC
Eshet Chail
"Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.
The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.
She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.
She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.
She is like the merchants' ships; she bringeth her food from afar.
She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens".
Proverbs 31

Solo project
As part of her development as a musician, songwriter and performer and motivate by the will to bring the percussion instruments and the voice to the front of the stage AYELET ORI BENITA developed a solo show comprised of her original compositions for percussions accompanied by her original texts.
The show consists of a looper that builds layers of groove while using as the base of the percussion’s rhythm and the Hebrew and Tunisian Arabian verses that express the need of telling a personal story of a torn identity that longs for healing.
In the show there is a big artistic depth in which the simple instruments reach a high technical level in the playing; All this based on the philosophical perception that “The sky is the limit and the limitation is a blessing”
For an artist full of passion and devotion to her music the message of love that she wants to pass to her audience dwells in the ability to create, with the tools at her disposal, a unique and personal show.
This solo performance has been presented in stages of Israel and the world.
During the Covid-19 pandemic Ayelet recorded her debut album produced by Amir Lev, am album that bring the feel of the live performances to the studio.
